Software Engineer, security enthusiast, student for life
For quite a while I thought to myself, “I wish that I had started earlier, I wish that I had a mentor that had gotten me interested in cyber security”, but I didn’t, so I tell myself to get up and learn it now. This is what it is, a lazy blog for me to be able to document my progress and growth as I develop both my cyber security skills, as well as my skills as a software engineer. I aim to do so honestly and humbly, and with time I hope to look back here to see for far I have come.
Current Job Title: Open to work!
Having been affected by a reduction in workforce I have found myself with the exciting opportunity to pivot in my career. Engineering has taught me a great deal about how the technology in the world around us works and has lead me to dive in further. With a passion to give back to the world I strive to break into doing cyber security research or eventually have the opportunity to give educational talks about the work that I am doing at the time. I have been working to develop my understanding of the cybersecurity sphere through educational resources like tryhackme, overthewire, picoCTF, and many others.
Goals & Asperations:
Having worked as a software engineer has brought me great joy along with a tremendous amount of knowledge. I have had the pleasure of working with teams of nice, supportive, and very talented engineers. I hope to be able to bring all that I have learned along with my on my journey into cyber security. Currently I am pursuing that passion in my free time by attending security conferences like BSidesSF 2022, the Pacific Hackers Conference, and working my way through various CTFs and wargames
When I'm not in front of a computer:
Most of my time is spent in front of a desk, either for work or leisure. When I do find myself AFK I am either on the mat for Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, running with my dog, hiking with my partner, or enjoying a nice beer.
